Calendar Sync

Sync your BetterDating meetings with your calendar application

What is CalDAV?

CalDAV is an open standard that lets calendar applications subscribe to remote calendars over the internet. BetterDating provides a secure, read-only CalDAV feed of your meetings and connection birthdays that any compatible calendar app can subscribe to.

Read-only feed: You can view your meetings and birthdays in your calendar app, but all changes must be made in BetterDating. The calendar feed updates automatically when you add or edit meetings.

Step 1 — Generate a Calendar Token

First, generate a secure token that authenticates your calendar app with BetterDating:

  1. Log in to your BetterDating account
  2. Go to Settings › Calendar
  3. Click Generate Calendar Token
  4. Copy the CalDAV feed URL that appears — you will need it in the next step

Treat your calendar URL like a password. Anyone with the URL can read your meetings. You can revoke and regenerate the token at any time from Calendar Settings.

Step 2 — Add to Your Calendar App

Follow the instructions for your calendar application below.

Apple Calendar (macOS)

  1. Open the Calendar app
  2. In the menu bar, go to File › New Calendar Subscription
  3. Paste your CalDAV feed URL and click Subscribe
  4. Give the calendar a name (e.g., "BetterDating") and choose an update frequency
  5. Click OK to finish

Apple Calendar (iOS / iPadOS)

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Scroll down and tap Calendar › Accounts › Add Account
  3. Tap Other, then Add Subscribed Calendar
  4. Paste your CalDAV feed URL and tap Next
  5. Tap Save to complete the setup

Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar in your browser
  2. In the left sidebar, click the + icon next to Other calendars
  3. Select From URL
  4. Paste your CalDAV feed URL into the field
  5. Click Add calendar

Note: Google Calendar may take several hours to display the initial set of events after subscribing.

Other CalDAV Clients

Any application that supports iCalendar (.ics) subscriptions or CalDAV can use your BetterDating feed. Look for an option such as:

  • "Subscribe to calendar" or "Add calendar from URL"
  • "Import iCal / .ics feed"
  • "Add CalDAV account"

Paste your CalDAV feed URL when prompted. No username or password is required — the token in the URL handles authentication.

Managing Your Calendar Token

You can manage your calendar token at any time from Settings › Calendar:

  • View the feed URL — copy it to add to additional calendar apps
  • Check last accessed time — see when your calendar app last synced
  • Revoke the token — immediately disables access for all subscribed calendar apps; you can generate a new token afterwards
